DK Suresh statement demanding a separate nation caused a huge controversy
Karnataka Congress leader MP DK.Suresh's controvertial statement on seperate country has raised new row as opposition party in state BJP has came heavily on the Congress party.
The Congress MP & KPCC president DK.Shivakumar's brother spoke about seperate country accusing Centre of depriving south India of its share of developmental funds and using it to buttress the north. He was speaking to media shortly after the presentation of the interim budget yesterday.
If the issue is not addressed, the south will have to be a "separate country", said Congress MP DK Suresh Kumar. The BJP accused the Congress party of having a divisive mentality.
"If we don't condemn this in the upcoming days, we will have to place a demand for a separate country as a result of situation the Hindi-speaking region has forced on us," said Congress MP DK Suresh Kumar.
Today we see a lot of injustice especially in South India. We need to get our share. Development money is being taken to North India and it is being unfair to us in all respects. If we do not condemn it in the near future, the people of this Hindi region are imposing an inevitable situation on us that we will have to leave the demand for a separate country," MP DK Suresh told the media.
The Congress, which came to power in Karnataka last year, has been echoing Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's complaint of not receiving the state's share of central funds.
